Hisashi Hirasawa, better known as Marudo. Usually the name of the breeder is used, but in this case it is the name of the Koi Farm because otherwise the confusion with the name Hirasawa (another big well-known breeder) would be too great.

Marudo worked at Dainichi for several years early in his career before starting his own Koi Farm. Everything he learned there has been of great importance to his own success as a breeder. Marudo Koi Farm is now known as one of Niigata's top breeders.

The farm is known all over the world and is constantly expanding its range. Marudo grows many varieties of decent quality. especially Sanke and Kohaku are highly valued for their strong colors and perfect physique. Marudo also grows Showa, Asagi/Shusui and Ogons to a lesser extent.
