The Marusaka Koi farm is located in Ojiya. A real family business, just like most Japanese growers, where everyone rolls up their sleeves. A large number of varieties are produced on the farm, including Kikusui, Kin Ki Utsuri, Kujaku, Midorigoi, Kikokuryu, Sanke and many other varieties.
The Marusaka Koi Farm is no stranger and has a history spanning three generations. The owner of the farm is Teruo Hiroi, the father of Teruyuki Hiroi. Teruyuki speaks a small word of English, so that a conversation can still be conducted with defective Japanese and English words mixed up.
Teruyuki tells me that the farm consists of about 40 to 50 mud ponds. Unfortunately, no statement can be made about the surface of the farm. One thing is certain, this is one of the more famous and larger farms from Niigata. Let's face it, as a Koi lover you have probably heard the name Marusaka before? The farm also has several Koi houses, including a special house where Koi are kept separately for sale.
