Perhaps one of the most impressive Koi farms in the Niigata area, the Hirasawa Koi Farm. This farm is also known as the Marusei Koi Farm, but is often abbreviated to Hirasawa. You have probably heard the name of this grower before. The breeder is known for his large sized single-colored Koi. Finding fish from over the meter with this breeder is certainly no exception.
How it all started in 1960
Seitaro Hirasawa started the farm, after which the farm has quickly grown into the largest in the area. In the early years, Seitaro mainly grew Ogon varieties, in which he was very interested and had also aroused his interest in breeding. Later on, goals were set together with his two sons to not only become the largest grower in the region, but also to be able to supply every variety that was in demand.
Becoming the largest koi farm in the region
And all this was not without success. Today, the farm owns a minimum of 6 Koi houses and more than 300 mud ponds enable mass production and growing capacity. Although the name is not directly associated with quality by hobbyists, you can find a lot of beautiful things here. The quality of nisai, sansai and yonsai that you can find here is certainly not commonplace.
