Momotaro Koifarm breeds 15 million koi per year. After a careful selection, they allow 0.5% of these koi to grow into jumbo tosai. They have 60,000 m² of ponds and mud ponds for all this.
Momotaro Koifarm produces the largest tosai in all of Japan. The koi are not only very large but also very beautiful. They have already bred dozens of Grand Champions in recent years.
Momotaro Koifarm has an indoor pond of 1500 tons for raising koi. Only the very best tategoi grow up in this pond. At a temperature of 22° C and a sophisticated diet, these koi grow into future Grand Champions in a very short time.
The trick is to combine the perfect bloodlines into your own bloodline which momotaro subdivides into "Mako" and "Eagle". The "Mako" bloodline comes from a Magoi (a natural koi) of 1.5m. Momotaro has koi from Mako measuring 82cm with 3 years old and 88cm with 4 years old for male koi. The "Eagle" bloodline comes from a 90cm Momotaro Kohaku and is mainly used for the breeding of Momotaro Kohaku.
